Placemaking Norway

Placemaking Norway focuses on community empowerment, arts, sustainability, and using placemaking to strengthen “the commons”, participation, and democracy.

Placemaking Norway (PN) established a working group in October 2024, consisting of 5 people. We are a diverse group of women representing both locals and internationals, from different professional backgrounds ranging from urban planning to politics, sociology and service design. We are motivated by a world where everyone has the ability to be an active citizen where they live, work, and socialize. A world where communities thrive by collaborating, where diverse voices come together to build inclusive public spaces, and where knowledge is shared freely to spark curiosity and kindness.

This working group meets once a month, to plan and discuss organizational development and upcoming events and opportunities. Our 2025 milestones include January meeting with the other Nordic networks, we’ve had a visioning workshop in March, and a public launch of our network in May. Our launch included a successful Jane’s Walk, urban periscope workshop and tool-testing as well as rounding off with a networking dialogue. We are registered as a voluntary organization, working to build a larger network across Norway, and are actively pursuing collaborative projects both nationally and internationally.
