Regreeneration aims to operationalize greening and renaturing solutions across Europe in four leading cities—Paris, Bucharest, Barcelona, and Alverca—and replicating them in Gent, Ljubljana, Rome, Lappeenranta, and Segrate, with a focus on social housing districts, deprived areas, neglected spaces, abandoned areas, derelict industrial sites, brownfields, and other dysfunctional urban sites. It seeks to demonstrate, through specific interventions in the lead cities and simulations in the replicator cities, how nature-based solutions contribute to urban climate change mitigation and increase liveability and social cohesion. Through this process the project aims to develop a Digital Twin system to enhance urban planning and sustainability, making cities greener and more efficient, in line with EU climate goals.
Placemaking Europe is helping municipal districts in cities engage their communities in decision-making, adapting interventions to local needs for long-term impact. We provide support for city decision-making, facilitating collaboration between European experts in green-based regeneration and the municipal districts. Our goal is to help both lead and replicator cities’ districts refine their interventions effectively, with tailored expertise and tools provided for knowledge exchange.
