We are proud to share insights from the first edition of Cities in Placemaking—a city-to-city learning initiative that brought together 12 European municipalities to strengthen urban governance through placemaking. Over the past two years, in collaboration with the Council of Europe, Creative Bureaucracy Festival, and the International Society for Urban Health, the program has fostered a shared commitment to rethinking public spaces as key arenas for democracy, social equity, and climate resilience.
This video captures key moments and reflections from the journey, highlighting how cities have worked to break down silos, co-create with communities, and embed placemaking into policy and practice. As we open applications for the next cohort, we invite more cities to take part in this growing movement and help shape the future of inclusive, people-centered urban development.
