Placemaking Austria is an open platform and network dedicated to advancing placemaking as a driver of inclusive, vibrant, and people-centred communities across Austria. We bring together residents, designers, municipalities, researchers, planners and changemakers who share a passion for transforming public spaces into places where people feel welcome, connected, and cherished.
Our mission is to put people at the heart of urban life. Grounded in participation, collaboration, local leadership, creative design, and integrity, we see placemaking as more than better urban design. It is a collaborative process that strengthens social and cultural identity, supports local innovation, and allows places to evolve with and for their communities.
Placemaking Austria is part of the wider Placemaking Europe movement and believes in open knowledge and collaboration. We host events, share tools and stories, and build cross-sector partnerships through workshops, urban labs, and professional exchange. Our community is open to everyone.
