We all know that placemaking has a lot of different values. With our projects, we generate impact in many ways, with many indirect and direct values: social networks, health, biodiversity, local economy for the local communities, but also increase of property value for building owners and real estate developers. And where bottom-up placemakers may be more driven by passion for the community, professionals in larger scale organisations such as municipalities and real estate developers need to be able to show hard facts. To translate the values of placemaking we feel with our guts into the language of spreadsheets can greatly help the collaboration between bottom-up and top-down.
That is why, recently, we have been working on gathering different sources about placemaking impact on various aspects of communities and real estate and we would love to share with you a presentation about Value of Placemaking in benefit to every placemaker! Let’s spread this source and use it to be able to be even more convincing that we make essential contributions in all social, environmental, cultural and economic aspects.
The presentation is an initiative of STIPO, HUNC and Placemaking Europe as part of the Place-Led Development WorkingGroup. It is an open-source, living document that we want to keep developing, so if you have any sources and data that could be added to the presentation – let us know! Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to include it! We also stimulate you to use the data in your own work of course, and to use the presentation. It falls under the Creative Commons, which means you can freely use it as long as you credit the sources.
The Place-Led Development Working Group of Placemaking Europe is very active. On the page you can find resources, upcoming events and the way to join the working group itself.
