In the mid September, over 1500 citymakers from all around the world gathered together to discuss what is Nordic in our cities, what do we mean with citymaking, and how can we as citymakers create better ways of working and thinking together to make our cities better.
Many of our Placemaking Europe leaders joined the Nordic CityMaking Week to share their knowledge and experiences in the educational and inspiring sessions. All the recordings you can find here, and congratulations to the Placemaking Europe Team on great presentations!
Placemaking Europe's highlights of the Nordic CityMaking Week:
Setting the Agenda’ for Nordic CityMaking - in that session, which connected several international experts, the guest speakers were looking for what could be described as the ‘Nordic’ in our cities, the values we share and the challenges we face, what is the role of the public administrations, what can companies and other private stakeholders bring to the table and how do we involve citizens
Among the guest speakers we can find many PE members, such as:
Elise Perrault - who discussed what the placemaking is as a global and Nordic movement
Charlot Schans - who presented new tools for more inclusive cities (case Stadsmakersfonds from the Netherlands)
Charles Landry - who described the concept of creative bureaucracy: the ʹwhatʹ the ʹhowʹ and the ʹwhyʹ of it
Future-Proof City - that session touched on the subject of the new neighbourhoods and how to create a sense-of place in a brand new areas. In that session, among others, Hans Karssenberg - talked about what the ʹplace-lead developmentʹ is and Charles Landry discussed the civic city in a nomadic world.
