We are very pleased to be hosting the third event by the Municipality of The Hague and Placemaking Europe in our City Network collaboration on May 24th 15:00 - 16:00 CEST: ‘Placemaking for climate action - resilience in cities’.
The City Network is based on the shared principle to incorporate placemaking into citywide strategies in order to bring out better quality of life with and for inhabitants. We are very excited to be growing this network with a third event which will focus on how you can increase the structural resilience of the street and its inhabitants through placemaking.
The session on May 24th aims to highlight how cities have increased the quality of life and the resilience of the neighbourhood through tailored interventions with the help of residents and existing partners. We hope to learn from inspiring projects and initiatives that enhance the ability of cities to face and adapt to the current and future challenges of climate change.
The international part of the session will host Stefan Al, a Dutch architect who has dedicated his career to designing and researching sustainable and resilient built environments that improve the quality of life for everyone. He will share his expertise on the role of blue and green infrastructure, redevelopment of waterfronts and multifunctional and hybrid solutions that not only help us adjust to the effects of climate change but also enhance social life in cities. The city of The Hague will then share their resilience strategy, presenting their work with the inhabitants of the Noorderbeekdwarsstraat in the area of Segbroek. From making the streets greener, isolating houses and increasing digital resilience to the improvement of social connection amongst the citizens. We will also hear from Mura Quigley about the Resilience Strategy of Belfast and the Relink project which is a climate friendly vision for transforming the Westlink and M2 bridges to help relink Belfast.
