Join us in Ljubljana on Thursday 30 March for an intensive Community Placemaking Training hosted by Placemaking Europe and our PLACE project partner - Korimako! During this 1-day training you will learn about how placemaking can help to:

1. Create impactful and practical community projects
2. Help citizens to make their voices heard on community development issues
3. Develop the ‘civic imagination’ your community needs to shape a better future

You will develop your skills and knowledge of placemaking approaches and tools. You will benefit from exchanging with colleagues on how placemaking can be scaled to have the greatest impact in Slovenia.

About the Speakers:

• Ramon Marrades - an urban economist, writer, and activist with a passion for people and places. He is currently Director at Placemaking Europe, founder at Vigla –an applied research start-up focused on designing urban futures–, and strategy advisor to a number of cities and large-scale development projects. Before, he has served as the Chief Strategy and Finance Officer at La Marina de València, Valencia’s waterfront redevelopment agency, and a board member of the Worldwide Network of Port Cities (AIVP).
• Milena Ivković - a Dutch-Serbian public space designer and civic participation innovator. She leads the Association Placemaking Western Balkans - based in Belgrade - a non-profit organization focused on creating better public spaces in the cities across the Balkans and SEE region and promotion of placemaking tools and methods.Next to leading the Placemaking Balkans movement and being a Board Member of Placemaking Europe Milena is the creative director of BLOK 74 based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. BLOK 74 is a digital design collective with expertise in serious games and gamified simulations for civic participation and scientific communication.
• Alenka Korenjak - a co-founder of architectural office Kombinat arhitekti d.o.o. and urban design studio Prostorož. She is experienced designing public space projects where cross-sectoral cooperation and communication with inhabitants plays a crucial role. She believes in architecture that pays attention to the everyday needs of people and offers creative solutions to improving quality of life.
• Aidan Cerar, PhD - a sociologist who has mainly been involved in projects dealing with urban regeneration, civic participation, and community involvement in planning and mobility. During the drafting of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for the City of Ljubljana, Aidan led the participation process. He is also a founding member of Library of Things, a social innovation service established in Ljubljana; and a member of Maja Farol, a well-established group of architects.
