Julia Tollmann is a Viennese landscape architect and urban planner. As part of Smart City Wien Project Unit at the Municipal Department for Urban Development and Planning, she has been working on the further development of the Smart City agenda in Vienna since 2016. Communication and exchange with the various internal and external actors is particularly important to her. Another focus of her everyday work are various funding projects on the topics of sustainability, energy transition and social innovation.
The origin of her professional and personal development lies in her interest in creating and shaping space, implementing sustainable and ‘smart’ approaches as well as understanding the motivation behind interactions between people and space.
Describe the main aspect of PlaceCity that you are most proud about?
As part of urban planning in Vienna, most of Julias’ work takes place at a high, strategic altitude. The PlaceCity project is a special opportunity to bring strategic objectives to the ground and to test them, to get in touch with and exchange ideas with various actors and to get to know new methods for jointly creating public spaces.
