Gooitske is the founder of gooitz. Under that organization, she is working with different companies an interdisciplinary collectives for urban transformations. And making better places for people. Gooitske is fascinated by people and how they move in public space compared to the built space. And why they do or not.
In the placemaking process, I prefer to do research with various and (future) stakeholders and we look for the meaning of the place. All this in a sustainable way, with a solid basis for places for people. The last year the emphasis for me has been on really involving children in the democratic process of area development and transformations. That adults take children seriously and give them a role that not only means that they can think along when it comes to a playground or a schoolyard. Especially when it comes to a complicated task. That’s why Gooitske’s focus lately is child-friendly cities, sharing and developing tools to include kids in decision-making processes. Especially children with disabilities.
Gooitske is both technically and creatively educated and she likes to work at the intersection of technique and creativity. She has a great experience in off and online media is a real concept developer and booster for projects. She works with organizations for the transformation of public space. And in her work, there are always people involved.
Currently, she is based in Zwolle, where she actively collaborates in networks such as The City at Eye Level for Kids, Buitensporig Zwolle, local organizations, educational institutions, road safety organizations, and regional government.
